Juliet Long School has approximately 300 students, grades 3 through 6. There are four classes at grade 4, and three classes at grades 3, 5 and 6. Staff members and children alike are involved on a daily basis in the pursuit of excellence. An academic program consisting of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, library and computers coupled with an arts program which includes art, music, band, and physical education allows students to express their academic and artistic talents.
A variety of learning experiences await our students. Whether a cultural event, band concert, trip to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, or research on the World Wide Web, students are keenly aware of their world and come to appreciate the diversity around them.
Respect is the cornerstone of our school culture. Teachers implement Responsive Classroom techniques, building the classroom into a community, which fosters responsibility, self-discipline, and a sense of caring for self and others.
Close home-school communication is encouraged at Juliet Long. A school newsletter is sent home monthly highlighting activities and events. Many classroom teachers have websites or use a group email to share important information. Teachers are always available by email. Simply enter the teacher's first initial and his/her complete last name @ledyard.net.
The PTO is very active in supporting our school. The members provide trips, educational programs, and volunteers to enhance everyday learning.
